Chondrilla juncea

Chondrilla juncea

The weed was provisionally identified as Chondrilla juncea - Asteraceae - from plate 109 in Wild Flowers of Britain and Northern Europe 1977 by Blaney, Fitter & Fitter.   However, as Chondrilla does not feature in neither Plants of southern Africa 2003 by Germishuizen & Meyer nor Cultivated Plants of southern Africa 2002 by Hugh Glen, it may be an addition to the South African checklist.

The plant has not reappeared in subsequent years and may have been removed by  people maintaining the pathways  at the Nahoon Estuary.
